How much do you make driving Uber Black?
I drive for Uber but I’m thinking about upgrading to a luxury car. I just want to make sure upgrading my driver status is going to be worth it, too. How much do Uber Black drivers make?

Uber Black drivers make $32 to $35 per hour on average. Uber Black drivers are set up to make nearly three times as much as UberX drivers given the differences in their base fares:
- $8 per fare compared to $2.20 per fare for UberX
- $0.65 per minute compared to $0.26 per minute for UberX
- $3.75 per mile compared to $1.30 per mile for UberX
However, whether or not you get a tip will depend on the satisfaction of your passengers. Uber Black drivers are likely to give better tips than standard UberX drivers because of the higher rates, but it’s up to you to make sure the quality of service is on par.
How much you make when driving for a rideshare company like Uber will also depend on a few circumstances:
- Your location: Uber Black drivers in major cities will typically make more than those in small towns or suburban areas.
- Your driving frequency: Uber Black drivers who spend more time available for rides are likely to get more trips back-to-back, maximizing their earnings.
- When you drive: Uber Black drivers are more likely to get a lot of ride requests on a weekend evening than on a weekday morning or afternoon.
