How much is it to register a car in Idaho?

How much will I have to pay to register a car in Idaho? I moved to Idaho a few years ago and I'm buying my first car since moving. I know registration can be expensive in other states, but I don't know how much it costs in Idaho.

It will usually cost between $45 to $220 a year to
register a car in Idaho
. But the actual price will depend on a range of factors. Specifically, Idaho considers the:
  • Type and size of the car
  • Age of the car
  • Inspection requirements
  • County or region
Electric vehicles
will cost an additional $140 to register per year. So a new
Tesla
will cost $209 every year, while a new
Nissan
will only cost $69. Additionally, the cost of registering non-commercial trucks will be more dependant on weight than normal cars.
Unfortunately, you can’t do much to save on your yearly registration fee. Since
registration
fees are dependent on your location and vehicle, you’ll only save a marginal amount if you choose a cheap-to-register car. Instead, you may want to try
saving on car insurance
.
