How much is a driving while suspended ticket in NJ?
If I get caught driving with a suspended license in New Jersey, how much will I have to pay? I have to get to work somehow but my license is suspended right now. If the fines aren’t too expensive, I might just risk it.

Overall, driving with a suspended license just isn’t worth the risk. The cost of a
driving while suspended
ticket in NJ is different depending on how many previous offenses you have on record. Here’s what you can expect from a driving while suspended ticket:- Your first offense will cost $500 and an extension of your license suspension for up to six months.
- Your second offense will cost $750 and could result in imprisonment for up to five days. Your license suspension will also be extended for up to six months.
- Your third offense will cost $1,000 and 10 days in your county jail. Your license suspension can be extended by six months for a third offense as well.
With that being said, I don’t recommend risking the penalties for the sake of driving to work. There are a few other options available to you:
- Try public transportation
- Carpool with a coworker
- Use a moped, bicycle, scooter, or another vehicle that doesn’t require a license
