Tesla seems to have done really well as a company and also in helping us transition to life with EVs. How much has Tesla helped the market for electric cars?

You’re right! Tesla is currently the leading manufacturer of electric cars and its sales have helped to boost the EV market and globalize it. A stat from Statistica shows a 157% growth rate, making it the fastest-growing brand in 2021.
In 2020, 79% of all new electric vehicle registrations in the US were Teslas. As the market for EVs grows and other companies begin to jump onto the sustainable energy wagon, Tesla will have to compete for its spot in the first place.
Companies like Nissan, Chevrolet, and Ford are up and coming, yet still nowhere near Tesla’s sales. This is true for every state in the US except for Alaska where Nissan has taken a strong lead.
Thinking of buying a Tesla? You’ll probably need to insure it.
