I think I heard this somewhere that gold is used in EVs but I wasn’t sure if it was true or not. I thought gold was only for jewelry! How much gold is used in an electric car?

Common misconception but yes, while gold is commonly used in jewelry it has great use for technology as well. Both gold and silver are great conductors of electricity, so they are used in the circuit boards of EVs and traditional fuel vehicles. Since it’s gold and silver can be quite pricey, they are only used in small quantities.
While the drilling and processing of these precious metals are definitely harmful to the environment, the metals themselves are fully recyclable.
Your EV isn’t just a car, it’s a gold mine! That’s a slight exaggeration, but
