How much electromagnetic radiation do electric cars emit?
I have a bit of a concern with electric cars. I’ve heard that some electronics cause electromagnetic radiation, and since EVs are large electronics I was wondering about some of the health risks. How much electromagnetic radiation do electric cars emit?

We hear your concern, this is something scientists are looking into as any serious undetectable radiation could cause drivers and passengers harm. Due to the design of the vehicles, electric cars produce a lot more radiation than traditionally powered cars do.
Electromagnetic field radiation from your devices isn’t visible with your eyes but in large quantities or over a long period of time, it can either cause damage to your health or increase other health risks. In electric cars, having a large battery so close to you can increase your exposure to radiation.
There are two types of radiation:
- ELF (Extremely low frequency) is caused by the internal workings of all electronics
- RF (Radio Frequency) is emitted from devices with wireless connectivity like Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
With the advancements in technology, there is also the downside of increased exposure to radiation. Even many current non-EVs have RFs due to the luxury tech features.
While both types of cars are contributors to both problems, ultimately, the decision is between fewer emissions with an EV or less radiation in a traditional car.
