How much electricity does a car radio use?

I’m from a small town and I’m a music guy. I love blasting music in my car when I’m in between shifts at the factory. But I’m getting worried it may be costing me more money than I want to spend. How much energy or electricity would you say a car radio uses?

That sounds like a great way to relax and clear your mind! You’ll be happy to know that your
car radio
doesn’t use as much energy as you may think. Here’s what we know about how much electricity a car radio uses:
  • Using your car radio or the CD player (if you have one!) uses about 0.02 kWh per hour.
  • Per hour, using your car radio will cost you about $0.01
Phew! Now that you know playing your favorite songs won’t cost you an arm and a leg, you can keep living your best rockstar life. Another way to cut costs with your car is to make sure you’re not overpaying every month for your car insurance policy.
