If your parents have an insured vehicle with
USAA
, getting on their policy is probably the cheapest option. The good news is that USAA offers a number of discounts for its members, which can help you in your insurance negotiations (and payments, if applicable) with your parents. The list includes:- 10% legacy discount for long-term members
- Good student discount for high school and college students who hold a B average
- Multi-vehicle discount (since you have your own vehicle)
- Discount for taking driving classes
Bring up these discounts with your parents, especially if they’re long-time USAA members, and you’ll probably find a good rate to fit your budget (or your parents’ budget).”
