How much does moving from California to Texas cost?

My job recently changed, and my new boss needs me to relocate from California to Texas. I have a moving stipend from work, but I’m wondering if it will cover all of my expenses. Can you tell me what moving from California to Texas costs?

That will be quite the change of pace! Moving from
Texas
to
California
is estimated to cost between $5,000 to $14,000 if the move is over 1,000 miles, or around $4,200 if it’s a shorter distance than that.
So, depending on how large your work stipend is—and how much stuff you’re moving—you may need to dip into your savings. Moving an entire home will put you closer to the $14,000 end of the spectrum, but just a studio or one-bedroom apartment will be closer to $5,000.
These numbers are if you choose to hire movers to help you out with it. If you’re planning on doing it yourself by
renting a U-Haul
will cost between $1,000 and $2,000.
Once you get there and unpack your last box, be sure to take some time to settle in to your new place. And part of that includes getting
renters
or
homeowners
