How much does Mazda depreciation lower the value of a car?

I’m in the market for a new car, and my research says that Mazda is a great option in terms of price, features, and value. However, I’m a bit worried that a Mazda will depreciate too fast to make buying a new one worth it. How much does depreciation lower the value of a Mazda?

Mazda depreciation is similar to comparable models in the industry, going down by only about 4% to 6% per year, on average. However, it doesn’t crack any lists as one of the best resale value brands on the market, and no single model makes any lists either.
Due to a higher depreciation rate than other brands and a mediocre resale value, buying a certified pre-owned model or a used Mazda might be the better option. You let the original owner take the hit on depreciation, and you’re left paying a fraction of what you would for a new car.
