How much does it cost to replace the alternator on a 2007 Toyota Camry?

A check engine light came on in my car. I took it to a mechanic to have the issue diagnosed. He called to say I need a new alternator and gave me a quote, but it seemed extremely high. How much should it cost to replace the alternator in my 2007 Camry LE?

Sorry that you’re experiencing mechanical issues. As with most vehicle repairs, you will have to pay for both parts and labor to replace your alternator, so the price can add up quickly.
The cost to replace the alternator on a 2007
Toyota Camry
is between $450 and $600. Broken down, it will be $80 to $100 for the labor and $350 to $500 for the parts.
While it might sound steep, there are plenty of car repairs that are much more expensive. And once the alternator is replaced, it’s likely that you won’t have to repair it again for the remaining life of the vehicle.
