How much does it cost to replace a Tesla key?

How much will it cost to replace the key fob for my Tesla? I lost it, and I’d really like to get a new one, but I’m worried it’ll be super expensive.

Answer
Key fobs can be hard to keep track of, especially when they won’t fit on a keyring! Unfortunately, replacing your lost car key can cost anywhere from $25 to $400 depending on your model.
Here are the costs of replacement keys for each Tesla model:
  • Model 3 replacement keys cost $25.
  • Model 3/Y keys cost $175, plus an $85 programming fee.
  • Model S/X replacements cost $300 in addition to an $85 programming fee.
If you’re worried about losing your keys again, consider finding a Tesla key fob case online. Since Tesla keys don’t easily fit on key rings, some companies have started selling cases that help you keep track of them!
