“Congratulations to your daughter! While there is no specific cost to add a new driver to your insurance policy, here are a few things to consider.
Insurance costs are usually significantly impacted by driving experience and driving record. Your daughter cannot control how much experience she has, but she can control her driving record with good, safe driving habits.
If possible, make sure the car your daughter is assigned to on the policy is the oldest car with
liability coverage
only. Also, ask your agent about the good student discount and any other discounts that may apply. Depending on where you live, you and your daughter may be able to take a defensive driving course to save 10% or more on your insurance!
