How much does it cost to insure a car for a week?
My daughter is coming home from college for a week. She hasn’t needed to drive at school, but will probably want to while at home. How much is it going to cost to get her a plan for the week?

“Depending on your situation, it might not cost anything at all! Most insurance companies allow for permissive use.
Permissive use means anyone you permit to drive the vehicle is a covered driver. So you wouldn’t need to make any changes to your policy at all, especially since it is only for a week.
If you are looking for your daughter to have her own car and policy for a week, that is different. It can depend on where you live and her driving record. A lot of car insurance companies that you’re probably familiar with don’t offer week-long insurance. Generally, they’re six months to a year.
There are a few companies that do cover you for about a week and their prices range from $10-$25 per day.
Before you opt for short-term insurance, you might want to check in with your car insurance company to see if they already cover your daughter, or if they have something they can do for that week.
