How much does it cost to have a car detailed?

Does it usually cost a lot to have a car detailed? I'm thinking about getting my wife's car detailed as a little Christmas surprise, but I also want to save up for a nice present.

A newly detailed car can feel fresh and luxurious. Luckily, it isn’t too expensive! A basic car detailing will cost between $50 to $125 for an average-sized car. But if your wife drives a van or SUV, it might cost closer to $75 to $150. That might sound a little pricey, but as a part of the basic detailing they’ll:
  • Wash your exterior.
  • Wax the exterior.
  • Vacuum the interior.
  • Polish the interior.
  • Wash all the windows (inside and out).
  • Clean the mirror and trim.
  • Clean the tires.
If you’d like them to do a little more, you can usually pay a little extra for an upgraded package. For exact rates, talk to your local detailer. If it’s too much, you could always
clean it yourself
