How much does it cost to fix the paint on a car?

A few years ago, I gave my old Ford Focus to my son as his first car, but he recently purchased a new car and gave the Focus back to me. It still runs great so I want to sell it, but it has a lot of paint damage. How much will it cost to fix the paint on my car?

Generally, you can expect to pay between $150 and $800 to fix your
car’s paint
Paint damage can be tricky to determine a price for as there are a lot of different factors that will impact the cost. Because this is quite a large margin, let’s break down the two most important cost-impacting factors.
Minor damage: Between
$150 to $300
. Minor damage includes small paint chips, relatively small or shallow scratches, and scrapes, or small dents on a flat area of the vehicle.
Extensive damage: Between $400 and $800. Extensive damages include large paint chips surrounded by cracking and
peeling
, deep scratches longer than six inches, and
deeper dents
on curved surfaces of the vehicle.
All new paint job
: Upwards of $1,000.
The best way to get an accurate price estimate is to bring your car into an auto body repair shop and have the damage
assessed
by a professional. Good luck!
