How much does it cost to fix scratched rims?

I was driving in the city the other day and accidentally scratched my driver's side rims on the curb. I plan on getting them fixed soon but I want to know what the damage will run me first—how much will it cost to fix scratched rims?

In general, the cost to fix scratched rims depends on the material the rims are made of:
  • Aluminum alloy and steel rims usually run between $50 and $150.
  • Chrome rims can range anywhere from $200 to $500.
If you’ve accidentally scratched your steel or aluminum alloy rims on the curb, you can expect the process of:
  • Sanding
  • Applying putty
  • Repainting your wheels
This will cost between $50 and $150, with the exact price influenced by wheel size, type, and the extent of the damage.
If you need to fix scratches on chrome rims, however, you’ll have to shell out at least $200 for repairs and replating—though it’s not unheard of to pay upwards of $500 in certain circumstances.
