How much does it cost to fix a tire pressure sensor?

One of the tire sensors in my Lexus isn’t working. I’ve come to depend on the low pressure light to alert me of problems with my tires. How much does it cost to fix a tire pressure sensor?

The average cost to repair a Lexus tire pressure sensor is $99, although you could find yourself paying more depending on the following:
  • Your location
  • The age of your vehicle
  • The model of your vehicle
If your vehicle is still under warranty, the cost of replacing a sensor may be covered for you—check with your dealership to find out
To replace a tire pressure sensor (TPS), follow these steps:
  • Step 1: Scan your vehicle’s computer for trouble codes associated with the TPS.
  • Step 2: Dismount the tire.
  • Step 3: Replace the sensor inside the wheel.
  • Step 4: Reattach the tire.
Keep in mind: While replacing a faulty sensor is a straightforward (and relatively inexpensive) task, things can get more complicated if other issues arise with the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
As a whole, your car’s TPMS includes a variety of complex electrical and technological components that can cost significantly more to repair. If problems continue to arise with your vehicle’s tire sensors following this repair, you may want to consider having a professional check for underlying issues with the TPMS.
