How much does it cost to fix a car dent?

We had a hail storm last night, and my car wound up with some dents. I don’t have comprehensive coverage on the car, just liability. How much does it cost to fix a car dent?

Cars and dents go hand-in-hand. Even when we do our best, we can’t protect cars from damage. It may cost you between $50 and $2,000 to fix a car dent, depending on your vehicle type and the severity of the dent.
Here are some common dent situations and associated repair costs:
  • Paintless dent repair is the least expensive. If body shop mechanics can remove the dent without filling, sanding, and painting the area, this process may cost you between $50 and $125 per dent.
  • Larger dents can cost up to $2,000, especially for luxury vehicles. This is why hail storm damage can total a car. However, repairing your dents may be much less than this price.
Consider replacing the dented car part if repair prices go beyond $1,000. For instance, if the damage is mainly to your car’s hood, it may be less expensive to replace the hood than to repair the dents.
Best of luck on recovering from the storm!
