How much does it cost to charge an electric car in England?

My twin and I just got into Oxford on scholarship so we’ll be moving to the UK for school next year. We are considering getting a smaller EV to drive around while we live there, but I know not all places have the same fuel costs. How much does it cost to charge an electric vehicle in the UK?

Wow! Congratulations to both of you—Oxford is such a great school! The cost for charging an electric car in England depends on the exact region and what type of car you get but you can expect anywhere from free to upwards of £15.00 (US$19.00) for a full charge.
Depending on where you decide to charge your vehicle the price may change. PodPoint shares that many workplaces and public charging points offer free charging during the duration of your stay. While this may be a common thing, it’s always good to check ahead of time and have a backup plan.
The current
UK gas shortage
is helping to boost the EV industry and is encouraging the government to continue the implementation of a better charging infrastructure. The UK also has a great transit system so even if you and your twin decide not to buy an EV you’ll have plenty of options for transportation.
Have fun in Oxford and please say hello to the Queen for us!
