How much does it cost for a home electric car charger?
I just bought a new Polestar 2. I’m excited about it, but I’m worried I didn’t put aside enough money to set up the charger. How much would you say it costs to get an electric car charger at home?

I hear you. Charging your car at home is definitely the most convenient and cost-effective option. While electricity rates vary depending on your provider and where you’re located, you could actually save up to $1,000! You can also keep some money in your wallet by charging your car at lower-cost hours.
- Investigate how your house, apartment, or condo is wired.
- Research the different types of charging stations and determine which one is the best fit for your vehicle and your budget. The cost for the actual equipment can range from $200 to $1,000.
- Budget for the cost of installing the new charger in your home. Installation fees can go up to $1,300 in some cases.
- On average, it costs about 3 to 11 cents per mile driven to charge your vehicle. That’s much less than what you’d pay for fueling up an internal combustion engine.
While these estimates may be higher than you expected, keep in mind that since electric cars have fewer parts than cars powered by gas, you’ll be saving plenty on general
maintenance
