All modern mechanics would have an understanding of the electrical systems in a car from both their training and hands-on experience. Since almost all modern cars have a blend of both electrical and mechanical components, technicians have to be comfortable with both. Automotive electricians have a specialization in installing and repairing the electrical systems in vehicles.
