How much does an Uber driver make in New York?
I’d always thought that I’d like to drive a cab in New York since most people use public transit to get around the city. But lately, I’ve been thinking that I’d make more money as an Uber driver. To make my decision, I need to know just how much Uber drivers make in New York.

It’s smart to research both incomes before you make your decision! According to Zip Recruiter, the average annual salary for a full-time Uber driver in New York is $38,063. This works out to around $18 an hour.
While that’s above minimum wage, it’s not really enough to make it with the high cost of living in New York. Plus, you’ll have to consider what it’s like to work for a rideshare company. You’ll spend more on gas, maintaining your car, and paying for extra car insurance.
To help you make your decision, keep in mind that New York taxi drivers typically earn an average of $45,237 a year.
Though it depends on your living situation, driving for Uber or Lyft is often better for supplemental income to another job than a primary source of income, especially somewhere like New York. If you do decide to drive for Uber in New York, definitely check out rideshare insurance!
