How much does a Dodge Dakota weigh?

I’m a farmer and need to buy a new truck for hauling things around. I’ve been looking at a Dodge Dakota, but I have no idea how much weight it can tow. Can I figure out the towing capacity if I know how much the Dodge Dakota weighs?

Yes! You can figure out a vehicle’s towing capacity if you know a couple of the vehicle’s weight measurements. In short, you’ll need the Dodge Dakota’s:
  • Gross combined vehicle weight rating (GCVWR) which is the gross weight of the Dakota and your trailer combined
  • Curb weight of the Dodge Dakota – (this runs between 4,211 and 4,681 pounds)
Once you have those two numbers, you can subtract the curb weight from the GCVWR and the result will be the towing capacity. Also, you can always check the owner’s manual before purchasing the
Dodge Dakota
—it should list things like the truck’s payload capacity and towing capacity.
Towing can make driving more difficult, so make sure you’ve got good
