Here are the factors that have the biggest impact on an Uber driver’s salary:
- Location: Drivers in big cities like Boise will probably earn more than drivers in smaller municipalities like Hayden.
- Time of day: Rush hour commuters and late-night bar-hoppers usually fall under surge pricing.
- Type of vehicle: Luxury and larger vehicles can charge more for Uber Black or UberXL service.
While Idahoans don’t use as many Ubers as Californians, for example, you can still earn a good living as an Uber driver in Idaho. But you need to be strategic about when and where you drive. If your schedule is wide open, then you can target busy periods and densely populated urban areas. You could even apply for a car loan for Uber drivers to get a better car and charge higher prices.
