How much are junk car batteries worth?

Are junk car batteries usually worth very much? I have an old car that doesn't run anymore, and I'm thinking about selling it for parts. I’m wondering if old batteries hold any value or if they’re just trash.

Answer
In general, junk car batteries are worth between $5 and $8 for smaller vehicles and $10 to $12 for trucks. Remember, batteries are also toxic. If you don’t sell them, make sure they get to a local recycling plant that’s equipped to deal with car batteries.
While you could break down an old car for parts, it might be more trouble than it’s worth. You might want to consider selling the car or trading it in for a small discount on your next car purchase!
