How much antifreeze does a car usually take?

What’s a normal amount of antifreeze for most cars to take? My friend checked my antifreeze levels and said they were low. I’d like to refill it by myself, but I don’t know how much to buy.

The type and amount of refrigerant most people need will depend on the car they have. That being said, most cars can hold around three gallons of antifreeze.
Before you pour three gallons of refrigerant in your car, check your owner’s manual for specific instructions or
ask a mechanic
what you should do. Some cooling systems require users to add water to the solution. So pouring pure refrigerant into your system may do more harm than good.
If you’re worried about how much you should buy, don’t be afraid to purchase a large container. Refrigerant takes a while to expire, and you can always use it again!
