How many years after a car accident can you sue?

If I wait for a few years after a car accident, can I still sue? I live in Massachusetts, and I got into a car accident about two years ago. I just found out that one of my injuries is much worse than it originally seemed. If it’s not too late, I’d like to sue.

The number of years you can wait after a car accident before suing will vary depending on the state. In Massachusetts, you should have three years from the date of the accident.
Generally speaking, the sooner you begin the lawsuit process, the easier it will be. Collecting evidence including witnesses, reports, and pictures will be much easier if you act fast. But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to sue after the fact.
