How many square feet is a two-car garage?

My wife and I are in the process of building our new house and decided we want to be able to fit both of our cars in the garage. The builders said they would draw up some plans for us to review but need to know how large we want the garage to be. How many square feet is a typical two-car garage?

Building a new house is a significant undertaking—you must be excited!
Most experts suggest sizing up, but a typical two-car garage is roughly 400 square feet. It is recommended the dimensions be no less than 18 feet wide and 20 feet deep. However, 24 feet wide and 24 feet deep, or 576 square feet, is considered the best size for a two-car garage because it offers plenty of room for your vehicles and some storage space.
Once your new house and garage are built, you should be sure to update your

company regarding the address change and see if you are eligible for a homeowner’s discount or if you can bundle your home and auto policies.
To ensure you aren’t overpaying for your coverage, you should compare rates from a few companies. If you’d rather leave the hard work of gathering quotes to someone else, use
