I recently saw a Pontiac G8 Firehawk at a car show and was thoroughly impressed, though I’ll admit that until that point, I’d never even heard of the model before, which makes me think they’re pretty rare. How many Pontiac G8 GT SLP Firehawks were made?

Pontiac G8 GT
SLP Firehawks were ever actually built. Some sources say that production would be limited to 250 units total, but it’s unlikely that that number was actually met.While the Pontiac G8 was first introduced in 2008, the Pontiac G8 GT-based Firehawk produced by SLP Performance Parts, Inc. was only offered for the 2009 model year—just one year before Pontiac officially went out of business.
That said, the Pontiac G8 GT SLP Firehawk was certainly an impressive send-off for the company—equipped with a supercharged 6.0L V8 engine capable of producing 500 horsepower and 489 lb-ft of torque, the G8 Firehawk could reach zero-to-60 mph in just 4.0 seconds and had a top speed of almost 180 mph.
Aside from this powertrain, standard G8 Firehawk SLP performance parts include:
- SLP Sport Suspension Package
- SLP Blackwing® Cold Air Induction System
- SLP PowerFlo® Stainless Steel Exhaust System
When it comes to the interior, however, the Firehawk hardly diverges from the Pontiac G8 base model—and that’s not a bad thing. Aside from some unique badging, floor mats, and embroidery, the Firehawk boasts the same auxiliary steering wheel controls, power sunroof, and safety features that make the G8 base so inviting.
The Firehawk package added $18,995 to the Pontiac G8 GT’s total cost, bringing the price up to roughly $51,300.
