How many Pontiac Can Ams were made?

I was at an auto show and one collector had a car I had never seen before—a Pontiac Can Am. I was blown away by its distinctive looks and was considering one for myself. How many of these were manufactured?

Made only for the 1977 model year, the number of Pontiac Can Ams that were manufactured is a subject of debate, but it’s generally accepted that the number is between 1,133 and 1,377.
An amalgamation of the Pontiac Grand Am and the Pontiac LeMans, the Can Am was technically just the high-end trim of the 1977 LeMans, but with some intriguing extras, such as:
  • 200-hp 6.6-liter V8
  • Cameo White paint job with red, yellow, and orange trim colors
  • Three-speed automatic transmission
  • 0 to 60 mph in around 10 seconds due to its weight
If you want to bring one home, you’re almost certainly going to need a hefty bank account or a
car loan
. Most models go for auction at a price of somewhere between $50,000 and $120,000.
