How many people died from distracted driving in 2018?

I am doing a presentation at work about motor safety and the dangers of texting and driving. I’m trying to pull together some data. In 2018, how many people died from distracted driving?

Wow, I think this presentation will be very powerful. The number of people who died in distracted driving accidents in 2018 was 2,858.
This tally was reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. And unfortunately, ever since 2018, the number has been on the rise.
Distracted driving
can be separated into three categories:
  • Visual: Taking your eyes off the road
  • Manual: Removing your hands from the steering wheel
  • Cognitive: Letting your mind wander from your focus of the road
Needless to say, cell phone use is a huge component of distracted driving. That’s why so many states have introduced legislation surrounding phone use behind the wheel in recent years.
Since there are so many distracted drivers out there, having great
car insurance
is very important. But that doesn’t mean you should overpay!
