I have a friend who’s really into Ford trucks and his latest obsession is finding a Ford Amarillo. Is it really that rare? How many of these banana-yellow beasts were made?

Ford loves its special editions, and there are plenty of folks who love to collect them! Only 1500 Ford Amarillo were made in 2005. It was also sold in limited numbers in 2006, but an exact figure is hard to pin down.
The Amarillo Special Edition was a

or Ford F-350
with a lot of special accessories and features—fancy dashboard and gauges, polished aluminum wheels, leather seats, special trim, and that iconic yellow color.As you noted, the most distinguishing feature of the Ford Amarillo was that it was yellow.
