How many mistakes are allowed on the driving test in California?
My driving test is coming up and I’m really nervous. I make stupid mistakes when I get nervous, so I’m worried I’ll fail. How many mistakes can I make and still pass?
Any mistake that doesn’t pose a genuine safety threat counts as one point. The examiner may take off additional points if serious safety mistakes are made, but that’s up to the examiner.
Here are some common issues that you may lose points for:
Failure to check your blind spot
Improper yielding at crosswalks
Failure to come to a complete stop
Driving too slowly
Driving more than five miles over the posted speed limit
The best advice we can give you for your driving test is to stay calm. Take a deep breath and drive how you normally do, and you’ll be fine!
