How many miles is 30 minutes driving?

I am commuting to college and it’s about a 30-minute drive that is a combination of highway and suburban roads. But I’ve honestly never even checked how many miles away campus is. How many miles can you drive in 30 minutes?

Congrats on being such a dedicated student! If you drive on a combination of suburban and highway roads, your average speed for the duration of the commute will be about 40 miles per hour—which means you can go approximately 20 miles in 30 minutes of driving.
A good way to keep track of how many miles you drive each day is to set your odometer to the trip meter setting. That way you don’t have to account for speed, traffic, or stop signs or lights when estimating how far you’re traveling.
