How many Mazda MX6s were made?
My friend used to have a Mazda MX6 growing up, but I don’t see all that many on the road. In fact, it’s probably been years since I’ve seen one, but I’m not sure if that’s due to the build quality or the fact that they’re rare. How many MX6s did Mazda make?

Mazda never released the production numbers for the MX6, as it was lumped in with the Mazda 626 production. However, Mazda produced around 4.35 million of these vehicles between 1970 and 2005. Since the MX6 was produced from 1988 to 1997 and was about half the total production from those years, one could reasonably estimate that around 700,000 or so of these vehicles rolled off the assembly line—but again, that’s just an estimate.
You probably see fewer MX6s on the road today simply because of the high mileage and rust problems that many Mazdas had during this era. If you can get your hands on one today, it will probably only cost you between $1,000 and $3,000—a steal by any stretch.
