How many LJ Jeeps were made?
I got to take a spin in my friend’s 2005 Jeep Wrangler LJ a few weeks ago when we were offroading, and I’d like to get one for myself. But my friend says they’re rare. How many LJ Jeeps were made?

Your friend is right—the Jeep Wrangler LJ, officially named the TJ Unlimited, is rare, but not impossible to find. From the 2004 to 2006 model years, only 44,000 Jeep Wrangler TJ Unlimited models were sold.
Today, Jeep still uses the Unlimited moniker, but these vehicles are not the same as the TJ Unlimited or LJ. This model, nicknamed LJ for “long Jeep,” is different from today’s Unlimited Wranglers because, despite being a longer vehicle, it only had two doors.
Jeep enthusiasts enjoyed a better ride in the LJ model, thanks to its heavier weight and longer wheelbase. The LJ also had much more towing capacity, at 3,500 pounds compared to the Jeep Wrangler TJ’s 2,000-lb towing capacity.
If you end up finding one for sale in your price range, you’ll want to take a few minutes to look over the Jeep Wrangler TJ Unlimited’s car insurance costs before you buy.
