How many Lincoln Futuras were made?

I was talking with one of my friends the other day about a Simpsons episode where Homer creates this weird, domed monstrosity of a car. While it simply seemed like something Homer would do, I learned from another friend that it was based on the Lincoln Futura. How many of these were actually made?

The legendary Homer Simpson car that ruined his brother’s automotive company was based slightly on the Lincoln Futura. Interestingly, only one Lincoln Futura was ever made.
Displayed on the auto show circuit in 1955, the Futura was only intended to show the future of what automobiles could be. Interestingly, it had an engine and could run, but the idea was more about the body and features—including domed plastic roofs, tailfins, and more.
While you can’t buy a Futura, you can still buy the brand that makes Detroit famous. If you want to get a great American luxury car, lower your
