How many Jeep Wrangler Chiefs were made?
My husband’s dream car is a Jeep Wrangler Chief. He said they were only made for the 2017 model year and there is extremely limited availability. How many Jeep Wrangler Chiefs were made?

The Jeep Wrangler Chief is extremely rare, with only 191 North American models sold for the 2017 model year. That’s why if you’re lucky enough to find one for sale, it will be priced higher than some new Jeep Wranglers.
Here’s what sets the Jeep Wrangler Chief apart from other cars:
- Exterior styling: The Wrangler Chief conjures up retro beachy vibes with its distinctive white convertible hard-top. You’ll find white badging, Chief emblems, and a throwback “4 Wheel Drive” emblem on the back.
- Powertrain and drivetrain: The Chief came standard with a six-speed manual transmission and a 3.6-liter V6 engine that gets up to 285 horsepower. A five-speed automatic was also optional.
- Exclusivity: Only 191 Jeep Wrangler Chiefs were sold in the U.S. and Canada.
The Chief made just a tiny fraction of Jeep’s total 190,522 Wrangler sales for 2017 in the U.S. If you’re able to get ahold of one for your husband, and it’s in good condition, expect to pay top dollar, with Chief prices exceeding mid-level trims for brand new Wranglers.
To prepare your car-buying budget, it’s a good idea to also look into Jeep Wrangler car insurance costs before you purchase one.
