How many Jeep trucks were made?

I was checking out the new Jeep pickup truck, the Gladiator, and thought it was so cool that Jeep *finally* made a pickup…only to have my dad tell me about the Jeep trucks of yesteryear. It was the first I’d heard of them! Were there a lot of Jeep trucks made before recent years?

Ahh, nostalgia! The first Jeep pickup truck was introduced in 1947 under the name Willy’s-Overland Jeep 4x4 Truck. After that first model came out, the Jeep truck went through six generations and 45 years before being discontinued in 1992.
In that time, the world saw well over half a million Jeep trucks made—and probably a lot more, but definite figures are hard to come by because there were several ownership changes during production.
And now that number will keep growing because in 2020, Jeep began offering another pickup truck, the Jeep Gladiator. New model years are still rolling out, so it will be interesting to see how long this model makes it!
