How many glasses of wine can I have before driving?

My friends and I get together every Wednesday for a book club, and occasionally it’s hard to resist the temptation of a little wine. I want to make sure I’m still safe to drive home afterward, though. How many glasses can I drink?

It’s great that you’re concerned about drinking and driving! The amount of wine you can safely consume before driving varies based on several factors, including your age, weight, gender, and more, as well as the laws where you’re driving.
For those over age 21, your blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) cannot be greater than 0.08 to drive legally. A 120-pound female could reach this limit in one drink or less.
Drinking and driving
is extremely dangerous and carries some big legal consequences, including license suspension and jail time. It’s not worth the risk.
Drinking while driving can harm your coordination, reaction time, and thought processing, even if you’ve only had one or two glasses! It also carries some pretty serious legal consequences, like license suspension and jail time. If you feel like you might not be okay to drive, have one of your friends drop you off at home or call an Uber or Lyft.
