How many driving lessons are required by law?

Is there a specific number of driving lessons that I’m required to take in California? I want to get my license as soon as possible, but driver’s ed is dragging on. I think I could pass the test if I just took it now!

Wanting to get your license as soon as possible is totally understandable. In the state of
California
, you’re required by law to take at least six hours’ worth of driving lessons with an approved instructor.
But even if you’re past the six-hour mark, it’s a good idea to continue to hone your skills behind the wheel before you go in for your exam. That way, you’ll have a better chance of getting your license on the first try! Plus, you’ll be better prepared for your first solo drives.
Once you’re licensed and ready to roll, remember that you’ll need car insurance to legally hit the road. Insurance can be expensive for new drivers—but that doesn’t mean you have to overpay.
