I really like everything that the Jeep Compass has to offer. However, I’m not all that familiar with what engine Jeep throws under the hood of this SUV. How many cylinders does the engine have in a Jeep Compass?

Every model year of the Jeep Compass has a four-cylinder engine, although the amount of power, fuel economy, and speed all vary depending on the model year.

The Compass debuted in 2007, and it’s had nine engine options since—including two diesel fuel options.

Currently, the Jeep Compass only has one engine option: a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine that delivers 177 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. While it doesn’t have a ton of power, it delivers up to 31 mpg on the highway and 22 mpg in the city, which are some of the best figures in the Jeep lineup.
