How many cylinders does a BMW 3 Series engine have?

I love the look of the BMW 3 Series, but I know appearances aren’t everything—and I also want a car that’s got power, too. How many cylinders does a BMW 3 series have?

The
BMW 3 Series
features a four-cylinder engine capable of 180 horsepower. But if that doesn’t quite do it for you, there’s always the option to swap its standard engine for a turbocharged four-cylinder instead.
In the upgraded 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, you’ll get 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
If your heart is set on an engine with more cylinders, you won’t find it in a 3 Series—or a 4 Series. Instead, you’ll have to set your sights on the larger BMW 5 Series or
BMW M3
.
But buyers be warned: cars with a higher number of cylinders are likely to have higher insurance premiums, too. That’s because bigger engines mean more power and faster speeds—which are risk-factor red flags for insurance companies and can mean higher
