How many cars are registered in Alaska?

I moved to Alaska last year. Compared to my home state, there’s practically no traffic here. It’s awesome! Is this because there aren’t a lot of cars, or is there another reason that there’s so little traffic?

There are 171,144 cars in Alaska, making it the state with the fewest cars in the U.S. This definitely contributes to the lack of traffic that you’ve noticed.
Another reason there are so few cars is that the population of Alaska is pretty small. There are only 731,721 residents in the entire state.
You might see more vehicles near large cities, but even then, the higher concentration of cars in Alaska won’t be nearly as difficult to navigate as places like Atlanta, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.
