How many cars are in Vermont?

I spent three months in Vermont working at a ski resort. Now I’m thinking about moving there permanently. One thing I like about Vermont is that it’s rural—you can get away from the hustle and bustle and traffic isn’t bad here. How many cars are there in Vermont?

Vermont
is charming, quaint, and embodies the spirit of New England. But due to some rugged terrain and harsh winter weather, Vermont has a high rate of car ownership with 97 cars per 100 residents.
The U.S. Census Bureau reported that there were 608,000 cars in Vermont as of 2020. That represents a 7.2% decrease in vehicle registrations between 2015 and 2020.
This was the largest decrease in vehicle registrations of any state in the country and one of only 12 states that saw a dropoff during this timeframe. This could have something to do with why traffic is relatively nonexistent!
If you’re thinking of moving, get a step ahead of the transition by shopping around for Vermont car insurance on the
