How many BMW i8 Roadsters were made?
I’m trying to learn more about efficient and green vehicles and I’m especially curious to learn more about BMW’s hybrid sports cars. How many BMW i8 Roadsters were made in total?

The BMW i8 saw a fairly limited production run, and this is especially true for the Roadster configuration. In total, only 3,884 BMW i8 Roadsters were made from 2008 to the end of its production. The standard i8 coupe only saw 16,581 units produced, for a total i8 production of 20,465.
But what exactly made the i8 Roadster so exclusive? Well, it was filling a pretty niche market—not many people are necessarily looking to buy a six-figure plug-in hybrid sports car. However, that didn’t stop BMW from making it! And in doing so, they attracted the attention of rare car and sports car enthusiasts alike.
The last BMW i8 roadster to hit the American market started at $164,296, so you can bet this performance car comes with exceptionally high car insurance costs. It also doesn’t help that car insurance for green vehicles tends to be pricier since the hybrid and electric equipment is more expensive to repair. But in some cases, the lowered emissions and fuel consumption make this a worthwhile trade-off.
