This vehicle is a little piece of history—especially because only 252 BMW
507s were made. This sporty roadster was produced from 1956 to 1959. To rev up its sporty image, BMW developed a roadster version of their 501 and 502 cars. The 507 was a stylish two-seater convertible with a hand-formed aluminum body, which meant no two 507s were the same.
The original business plan was to export thousands of units to the US, but production costs went way over budget and put BMW on the verge of bankruptcy—hence the tiny production number of 252 units.
Arguably the most famous BMW 507 owner was Elvis Presley, who purchased a 1957 model while fulfilling his mandatory military service in Germany. The King’s 507 was recently restored and is now one of BMW’s most valuable vehicles ever—worth $18 million.
