How many Audi TTs were made?

I know it’s not the sportiest of sports cars, but I just love the sleek look of the Audi TT. I recently heard it’s on a lot of enthusiasts’ lists as a future classic, too, so I was wondering just how rare they are. How many were made?

We assume you’re talking about the
Audi TT Mk1
, which ended production in 2005. This model actually sold quite well, and upwards of 275,000 were produced globally over eight years. Whether it’s a future classic, though, is kind of up in the air.
If there’s a TT that’s truly bound for the collector’s books, it’s the 2005 TT Quattro Sport. This limited edition only included about 800 to 1,000 units. A key selling factor for the
TT Quattro Sport
—aside from its rarity—is its power and agility.
The first-gen TT wasn’t a weakling, but the 240-horsepower 1.8-liter turbocharged V6 in the limited edition could certainly take it to school. Plus the 2005 limited edition TT featured:
  • Lower gross weight
  • Wider rear wheels
  • Re-engineered suspension
If you’re looking to add a TT to your collection, now would be the time to do it, as prices haven’t skyrocketed—yet.
