How many 2020 Ford GTs were made?
My friend thinks they saw a 2020 Ford GT the other day, but I’m 99% convinced they were mistaken. If I remember correctly, hardly enough models were produced for one to just be out and about. How many 2020 Ford GTs were made?

Your recollection is very much correct—when Ford announced the GT’s second generation in 2016, it originally claimed that only 1,000 models total were going to be produced between 2016 and 2020. However, Ford later increased that number to 1,350 and lengthened the production span to 2022, meaning there were 225 Ford GTs made in 2020.
That doesn’t mean that every single 2020 GT was purchased either. In fact, according to reported sales data, only 125 models made it into a garage in the U.S. in 2020. Therefore, the chance that your friend really did see a 2020 Ford GT in the wild is quite slim indeed.
In case your friend ever catches that same supercar again, though, here are some distinguishing features of the 2020 GT model:
- It features a titanium exhaust system standard
- It comes in a Liquid Carbon paint option, leaving the carbon-fiber body unpainted
- The classic gulf livery stripe defines its blue and orange lines with a black pinstripe
- It has a very iconic, aggressively aerodynamic shape to it that certainly helps it stand out like the batmobile
Considering the 2020 Ford GT’s $500,000 price tag and its near-obscure rarity, it seems highly unlikely anyone would see one on the road—at least without some celebrity or very wealthy individual in the driver’s seat. But one can always dream!
